What is the Computers for Louisiana Families (CLF) program? CLF is a statewide initiative launched by CACRC in 2008 that provides high-quality, refurbished computers and devices to Louisiana families. The goal is to bridge the digital divide by offering affordable technology for education, work, and personal use.


Who qualifies for the CLF program?

The CLF program is open to all Louisiana residents. We especially prioritize families and individuals who may not otherwise have access to the technology needed for school, work, or healthcare access.


What kind of technology does the CLF program offer?

We offer a variety of affordable tech devices, including:

  • Laptops
  • Desktops
  • Tablets
  • Custom Gaming PCs
  • Apple Devices
  • Accessories
  • Mobile Internet Devices (Hotspots & Routers)

What internet solutions are available through CLF?

Through a partnership with T-Mobile and Mission Telecom, we offer:

  • 4G Hotspot
  • 5G JEXtream Hotspot
  • Inseego Wavemaker FX3100 Dual SIM 5G Router

Each device must be paired with a T-Mobile SIM card available in 3-month, 6-month, or 12-month plans.


Can I use my own SIM card with the hotspots or router?

No. All mobile internet devices in the CLF program must be paired with T-Mobile SIM cards provided through the program.


How do I apply or qualify for the CLF program?

You can purchase a CLF device in person at our Baton Rouge location or online 24/7. No application is needed—just bring proof of eligibility if you qualify for discounted pricing.


Where can I pick up my device?

Devices can be picked up at the CACRC location or shipped directly, depending on your preference and eligibility.


Can I donate to the program?

Yes! You can help others gain access to technology through our “Gift a Device” initiative. Your donation helps fund and provide devices to families in need.


What if I need help with my device or internet setup?

Are the computers free?

While not free, all devices are offered at highly discounted rates to ensure affordability for families in need.

How can I purchase a CLF device?

What kind of warranty or support comes with my device?

· 90-day hardware warranty on all desktop and laptop computers sold in our store

· 60-day warranty on all other hardware We will exchange or repair defective equipment within the warranty period.

All sales are final — we do not offer cash refunds.


Are the devices internet-ready?

Yes, all CLF computers come equipped with basic software to connect to the internet, whether at home or in public access areas like libraries or schools.


Can schools or nonprofits place bulk orders?

Yes, CACRC supports bulk purchasing for eligible organizations. Please contact us directly for more information on volume pricing and availability.


What if I don’t live in Baton Rouge—can I still participate?

Yes! Both CLF and Connecting Louisiana Families are statewide programs. You can shop online and have your devices shipped directly to you.


CONNECTING LOUISIANA FAMILIES PROGRAM

• What is the Connecting Louisiana Families program? This is CACRC’s new initiative to provide affordable, wireless broadband internet access to individuals, families, nonprofits, schools, libraries, and other community organizations across Louisiana.

• Who qualifies for low-cost wireless internet through Connecting Louisiana Families? Eligibility includes:

· Federal or tribal General Assistance

· Fixed or Low-Income households

· Students in the household or college students

· Senior citizens

· Medicaid

· National School Lunch Program (Free or Reduced Lunch)

· Public housing or rental assistance

· SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance)

· SSR (Social Security Retirement)

· SNAP/EBT (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)

· WIC (Women, Infants, and Children)

· SSI (Supplemental Security Income)

· TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)

· VA benefits for service members

· Libraries, schools, and educational or social welfare programs

• Is there an application for the internet program? There’s no formal application. If you meet eligibility, you can purchase service directly from our store or online.

• How does the program work? Qualifying individuals and organizations receive access to low-cost, reliable wireless broadband to support education, employment, telehealth, and community engagement.

• Are the internet devices easy to use? Yes! Mobile hotspots purchased through Connecting Louisiana Families are activated when a SIM card is inserted and are ready for immediate use.

• What is CACRC? The Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council (CACRC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Since 1996, we’ve been committed to the responsible recycling of electronics, diverting millions of electronic devices from landfills and redirecting these devices to schools, nonprofits, and families across Louisiana.

• What is the mission of CACRC? Our mission is to reduce electronic waste through responsible recycling and promote digital equity by providing affordable, refurbished technology to those in need.
